prayer shawl ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry at Mountain Road Church began in May 2006 when one of our members died. A shawl was made by another member in remembrance of the deceased for his widow. Since that time, many women (and even a few men!) have come together to knit or crochet shawls, lap robes and baby blankets, which are given to members of the church and friends in the workforce and neighborhood.
The shawls and lap robes have been a comfort to those who are sick or grieving, those in nursing homes or recovering from surgery, and baby blankets are given to families with newborn babies. A card with a Bible verse is included with each gift to let the recipient know we are praying for them. We have also made caps for newborns and delivered them to Primary Children's Hospital. May of our gifts have also been sent to other states and countries, including to military service men and women.
All are welcome to join our group. Normally, we meet the 1st Wednesday of the month @ 6:30pm at the church. However, during the summer (June-August) we will meet at 2:00pm at the home of Beverly Lotito.
It is our joy to serve the Lord by making these gifts in Christ's Name. Our desire is to show the love of Christ, as well as proclaim His Gospel.
